High-purity acids for trace analysis

Trace-metal grade acids are used where ordinary reagent-grade impurity levels can interfere with elemental analysis. Lotus Corporation supports high-purity acid requirements for ICP-OES, ICP-MS, AAS, elemental impurities, sample digestion and other trace-analysis workflows.

Grade names differ between manufacturers, and two products carrying similar descriptions may not have identical elemental impurity limits. Laboratories should compare the actual product specification, acid assay, trace-element limits, packaging and intended application before approving an alternative.

Acid requirements we can review

  • High-purity nitric acid for digestion and elemental analysis.
  • High-purity hydrochloric acid for sample preparation and method-specific matrices.
  • High-purity sulfuric, perchloric, hydrofluoric or other acids where product availability, handling and regulatory conditions permit.
  • Acids used for ICP, ICP-MS and AAS sample preparation.
  • Method-specific grades for ultra-trace and elemental-impurity workflows.
  • Existing manufacturer-code matching and specification comparison.

How to specify the correct acid

Include the acid name, concentration or assay, required grade, target analytical technique, pack size and preferred container. If particular elemental limits are critical, attach the current specification or list the required limits. The instrument method, digestion procedure and reporting level should guide selection.

Contamination control matters beyond the label

Results can be affected by containers, dispensers, pipette tips, digestion vessels, storage conditions and laboratory practices as well as acid purity. Use clean, compatible materials and follow the laboratory's validated contamination-control procedure. The manufacturer SDS and technical documentation should govern handling and storage.

Supply and hazardous-goods considerations

Concentrated acids can be corrosive and subject to transport restrictions. Availability, freight, delivery time and eligible pack sizes depend on the product, destination and applicable logistics conditions. Lotus Corporation will confirm the commercial and dispatch conditions at quotation or order stage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is AR grade suitable for ICP-MS?

Not automatically. Suitability depends on the method, reporting limits and trace-element specification. A dedicated high-purity grade may be required.

Which specification should I send for comparison?

Send the current manufacturer code or specification showing acid assay and relevant trace-metal limits, together with the instrument and application.

Can Lotus supply nitric acid for elemental impurity testing?

Applicable high-purity nitric acid options can be reviewed against the method, required impurity limits, pack size and product availability.

Are all acids available for courier delivery?

No. Corrosive and hazardous products may face packaging, route, carrier and destination restrictions. Feasibility is confirmed case by case.
